Also known as vinasse or distillery slop, spentwash is the dark, viscous, and highly acidic liquid left after the distillation of molasses or grain. With a high BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), untreated spent wash can devastate local ecosystems. Why Traditional Waste Management is Failing For decades, distilleries relied on “Lagooning“ or dilution. These methods are no longer viable in 2026 due to: Strict Regulatory Norms: CPCB and SPCB have mandated absolute ZLD for all distilleries. The Raj Process Spentwash Drying Mechanism Our system is not a simple heater; it is a sophisticated thermal engineering platform. 1. Advanced Evaporation & Concentration Before drying, the spentwash is concentrated in our Multi-Effect Evaporators (MEE) or Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR) systems. This reduces the moisture content to a level where thermal drying becomes highly energy-efficient. 2. Thermal Drying & Solidification The concentrated wash is fed into the Raj Process Dryer. Utilizing controlled hot air or steam, we flash-dry the material. The result is a fine, free-flowing powder that retains all the nutrient value of the original waste but without the water weight. 3.
