Compressed Biogas Plant Manufacturer in Maharashtra

The shift toward sustainable energy has made Compressed Biogas (CBG) one of the most promising sectors in the Indian industrial landscape. With the government’s push through initiatives like the SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) scheme, CBG is set to revolutionize how we manage waste and fuel our nation.

As a premier manufacturer of industrial process equipment, Raj Process Equipments provides turnkey engineering solutions for high-yield CBG plants that transform organic waste into high-purity green fuel.

What is a Compressed Biogas (CBG) Plant?

A CBG plant is an advanced bio-refinery that processes organic waste through Anaerobic Digestion. The resulting biogas is then purified to remove impurities like $CO_2$ and $H_2S$, and compressed to high pressures (typically 200-250 bar) to match the properties of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

The CBG Production Process

  1. Feedstock Collection & Pre-treatment: Organic waste is collected and shredded to increase the surface area for microbial action.

  2. Anaerobic Digestion: The waste is fermented in a digester in the absence of oxygen, producing raw biogas.

  3. Purification (Upgradation): The raw gas, which contains 55–65% Methane ($CH_4$), is upgraded to >90% Methane through Membrane Separation or Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA).

  4. Compression & Bottling: The purified gas is compressed and filled into high-pressure cylinders for transport.

Why CBG is the Future of the Indian Market

The current situation in India presents a massive opportunity for CBG due to three critical factors:

1. Energy Security & Reducing Imports

India currently imports over 80% of its crude oil and nearly 50% of its natural gas. CBG acts as a decentralized, indigenous fuel source that reduces our dependence on volatile international energy markets.

2. Waste-to-Wealth (The SATAT Scheme)

The Indian government has targeted the establishment of 5,000 CBG plants. By utilizing the millions of tons of agricultural residue and municipal solid waste generated annually, India can solve its waste management crisis while creating rural employment.

3. Decarbonizing Transportation

CBG is a "drop-in" fuel for existing CNG vehicles. It offers a carbon-neutral alternative for buses, trucks, and private cars, aligning with India's goal to reach Net-Zero by 2070.

Categories of Feedstock Usage

Our CBG plants are engineered to process various "waste streams," making them suitable for different industrial and agricultural clusters:

A. Agricultural & Sugar Industry

  • Press Mud: A byproduct of sugar mills that is exceptionally rich in biogas potential.

  • Paddy Straw/Stubble: Converting crop residue into fuel instead of burning it, which significantly reduces air pollution in North India.

B. Livestock & Dairy Sector

  • Cattle Dung: Ideal for large-scale dairy farms to manage waste and generate an additional revenue stream.

  • Poultry Litter: High nitrogen content feedstock that produces potent biogas and nutrient-rich manure.

C. Municipal & Urban Waste

  • Segregated Food Waste: Perfect for smart cities and municipal corporations looking to reduce landfill pressure.

  • Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Sludge: Integrating CBG with STPs to make water treatment self-sustaining.

Applications of Compressed Biogas

1. Automotive Fuel (CNG Replacement)

CBG can be sold through retail outlets for use in cars, auto-rickshaws, and heavy-duty commercial vehicles. It provides the same mileage and performance as fossil-fuel-based CNG.

2. Industrial Heating & Power

Large manufacturing units in sectors like textiles, chemicals, and food processing can use CBG in their boilers and furnaces, replacing expensive LPG or Diesel.

3. Commercial Kitchens (Catering & Hotels)

High-purity CBG is an excellent alternative to commercial LPG cylinders for hotels, hospitals, and large industrial canteens.

4. Organic Farming (The FOM Advantage)

The byproduct of a CBG plant is Fermented Organic Manure (FOM). This liquid or solid fertilizer is rich in NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) and helps restore soil health, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.
